Airtel Delhi Half Marathon - 21 November 2010

TechM runs for a cause…!!

The pleasant Sunday morning of 21 November 2010 saw an excited group of around 40 Tech Mahindra volunteers make a dash to the flag off point at the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon (ADHM). These were part of the Corporate Challenge runners who ran the Great Delhi Run (6 kms) for a cause – – an initiative that enables and empowers the Visually Impaired (VI). The Tech Mahindra Foundation (TMF) donated a sum of Rs. 2.25 Lakhs to the Concern India Foundation as part of this Corporate Challenge. The donation will reach the SCORE Foundation that drives the initiative. TMF supports the website as also the radio show - Yeh Hai Roshni Ka karwan. Both are initiatives of the SCORE Foundation led by the legendary George Abhraham, himself visually impaired.

George ran all of the 21 kms of the marathon, highlighting the strength of the mind over the body!! Thus, a VI going the distance in a marathon is a strong statement that they are next to none when it comes to facing challenges, be it athletics or life. The TechM philosophy aligns with such human enterprise and endeavour, and therefore TMF came forward to support George and his cause through the Corporate Challenge.

Mr. Jagdish Mitra, CEO, CanvasM and Mr Vinod Khanna, Principal Consultant, TMF were present to flag off the runners. Jagdish also ran the Great Delhi Run as did most of the other Corporate Challenge volunteers. A few die-hards also ran the full 21 kms.

The entire Tech Mahindra family at the event strongly felt that next year we need to have a larger number of volunteers run for a cause, and show our solidarity to the human spirit of never say die!
